Chapter 4 - The Secretary's Desperation

"Dominic, don't be ridiculous," Vanessa stammered, stepping quickly in front of him, her red sparkling dress shimmering under the lights. She forced a desperate, artificial laugh. "She's a grifter! She probably adopted those brats to extort you! They look nothing like you!"

Dominic didn't even look at Vanessa. His cinematic, slow eye movement remained entirely fixed on Natalie and the twins.

"Move," Dominic ordered, his voice barely above a whisper, yet carrying a demonic threat that made the surrounding guests physically step backward.

Vanessa’s panic reached a boiling point. She frantically waved her hand at the elite security guards stationed around the perimeter of the ballroom.

"Guards! Remove this woman!" Vanessa shrieked, her fake composure completely dissolving. "She is trespassing! Throw her out immediately!"

Two massive men in dark suits stepped forward, reaching out to grab Natalie by the arms.

Natalie didn't flinch. She pulled her children slightly behind her, her posture straightening with incredible, unshakeable dignity. She wasn't the terrified, helpless girl crying in the rain anymore.
