Chapter 7 - The Digital Execution

"What is on that drive, Natalie?" Dominic asked, his voice dropping an octave into a terrifying, dangerous quiet.
"Everything," Natalie answered smoothly. "The unedited audio files Vanessa spliced together to frame me. The IP addresses tracing the fake bank transfers directly back to her personal laptop. And, more importantly to your capos, the twenty-five million dollars she has been quietly embezzling from your shipping ports over the last five years."
The color completely drained from Vanessa’s face. She looked like a corpse standing in a red sparkling dress.
"No... no, Dominic, it's a forgery! She hacked us!" Vanessa shrieked, stumbling backward in her high heels. She looked wildly at the security guards, but none of them moved to help her. They belonged to Dominic.
Dominic slowly reached out and took the black hard drive from Natalie’s hand. He didn't even need to plug it into a computer. He looked at Vanessa’s hyperventilating, sweating face, and he knew instantly that every single word his ex-wife had just spoken was the absolute truth.
He had destroyed his own marriage, banished the love of his life, and missed the first five years of his children's lives because he had trusted a parasitic thief.
