Chapter 4 - The Unshakeable Therapist

When Luca first met Tessa Fitzgerald in the heavily guarded lobby of the luxury penthouse building, he had been intensely skeptical.
Tessa was only twenty-seven years old. She was petite, beautiful, and looked entirely too delicate to handle the terrifying, explosive wrath of the most dangerous mafia boss in Boston. Luca had explicitly, heavily warned her about Massimo’s violent temper, his mafia connections, and his horrific track record of destroying his medical staff.
But Tessa was not easily intimidated by aggressive, loud men.
She had grown up in a chaotic, working-class neighborhood in South Boston with four older, incredibly tough, and overly protective brothers. She had spent her entire life learning how to stand her ground, hold her own, and completely ignore the toxic, posturing tantrums of angry men. Furthermore, Tessa was an absolutely brilliant, deeply dedicated professional. She didn't view Massimo as a terrifying mob boss; she viewed him as a profoundly broken, grieving patient who was actively self-sabotaging his own limited chances of recovery.
She had accepted the highly paid, dangerous assignment because she firmly believed that nobody, absolutely regardless of their criminal history, deserved to rot away in a bed simply because they were too scared to try.
When Tessa had walked into the penthouse that morning wearing her fitted navy caregiver uniform, she immediately realized that Massimo was using his terrifying reputation as a defensive shield. He wanted her to run away so he wouldn't have to face the painful reality of his paralyzed legs.
But Tessa had absolutely no intention of backing down.
