Chapter 5 - The Fearless Rebound

Massimo sat in his sleek black wheelchair, his massive, heavily tattooed chest heaving with furious exertion. The dark wet hair clung to his forehead as he glared down at the young therapist sprawling on the cold bathroom tiles, entirely expecting her to scramble away in absolute, whimpering terror.
But Tessa Fitzgerald did not cry. She did not scream for the armed guards outside the door. And she absolutely did not run away.
Tessa immediately pushed her hands flat against the cold slate tiles. With a sharp, furious intake of breath, she pushed herself directly back to her feet. She aggressively smoothed down her light gray apron, entirely ignoring the stinging pain in her bruised hip.
She didn't cower. She marched straight toward the massive, terrifying mafia boss, her dark eyes flashing with a fierce, unbreakable, and completely fearless intensity that entirely shocked the apex predator.
"STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD," Tessa shouted angrily, her voice echoing loudly off the bathroom walls, completely fearless in the face of his violent aggression.
Massimo’s dark eyes widened in profound, unadulterated disbelief. In his entire adult life as the head of the Boston syndicate, absolutely nobody had ever dared to raise their voice at him, let alone call him a child. He was surrounded by hardened killers who trembled when he simply cleared his throat.
The sheer, unprecedented audacity of the young woman standing in front of him completely short-circuited his brain for a fraction of a second. But his massive, arrogant ego quickly violently violently rebounded, demanding absolute, unquestioned submission from the hired help.
