Chapter 7 - The Locked Brakes

Instead of responding to his furious, booming threats, Tessa moved with incredible, quiet, and absolutely purposeful speed.

She boldly stepped around the side of the sleek black wheelchair, moving completely behind the furious mafia boss, deliberately placing herself entirely out of the reach of his massive, powerful, heavily tattooed arms.

Massimo gripped the wheels, frantically trying to spin the heavy chair around to face her, deeply frustrated by his lack of mobility.

Before he could pivot the chair, Tessa aggressively raised her foot. She slammed her sensible nursing shoe sharply and decisively down onto the heavy mechanical brake lever on the right rear wheel, locking it with a loud, metallic clack. She instantly shifted her weight and slammed her foot down on the left brake lever, executing another sharp, final clack.

The sleek black medical wheelchair was completely, entirely immobilized.

Massimo shoved his massive arms furiously against the hand rims, his heavy biceps bulging with incredible physical effort, but the heavy chair remained completely frozen, locked firmly against the wet slate tiles. He was entirely trapped.

Tessa calmly walked back around the immobilized chair. She didn't retreat to the doorway. She marched directly up to him, planting her feet firmly on the floor, standing incredibly close to his bare, heavily muscled knees, physically invading his personal space with absolute, unyielding medical authority.

Massimo stared up at her, his broad chest heaving rapidly. He was completely, utterly stunned that this petite, twenty-seven-year-old woman in a light gray apron still absolutely refused to back down from the most dangerous man in Boston.
