Chapter 3 - The Bought Justice

The three boys belonged to the most elite, untouchable, and incredibly wealthy billionaire families in the entire state. Their fathers controlled massive political networks, real estate empires, and high-powered legal firms.

When the boys finally stumbled home and confessed to the hit-and-run, their powerful families didn't march them down to the police station to face justice. They immediately deployed their vast wealth to execute a massive, systemic cover-up.

Within twenty-four hours, the billionaire families had completely corrupted the local justice system. They heavily bribed the lead detectives investigating the crash. They miraculously ensured that all the city traffic camera footage surrounding the intersection was "accidentally deleted" due to a "server malfunction." They even hired a team of ruthless, high-priced defense attorneys to aggressively plant fake evidence at the scene.

By Monday morning, the official police report had been entirely rewritten.

The corrupt authorities publicly declared that Emma, the sweet preschool teacher lying in a coma, was entirely at fault. They claimed she was driving recklessly and had swerved into oncoming traffic. The three boys were completely cleared of any wrongdoing, entirely insulated from the horrific consequences of their drunken, violent actions.

The boys felt completely, absolutely untouchable. They believed their families' money made them literal gods, entirely immune to the laws that governed normal, working-class citizens.

They thought Emma's husband, Daniel, was just a quiet, helpless, grieving man who would eventually accept a small settlement check and disappear into the shadows.
