Chapter 3 - The Shattered Vase

The silence stretching between them was agonizingly heavy. The mocking laughter of the surrounding guests slowly faded as they realized the rugged man was not backing down.
Then, it happened.
Without a single micro-expression of warning, the man shifted his weight. His massive hand cut through the air with blinding, terrifying speed.
CRACK.
He delivered a hard, explosive open-handed slap directly across Vivienne’s face.
The sheer, concussive force of the blow lifted the socialite entirely off her feet. Vivienne spun violently to the side, her crimson evening gown flashing under the chandelier light. She crashed heavily into a massive decorative flower arrangement positioned near the VIP ropes.
The heavy ceramic vase tipped over, shattering spectacularly against the polished marble floor. Water, white roses, and sharp, broken ceramic pieces scattered everywhere as Vivienne collapsed into the wreckage, her diamond earrings tangling in the crushed flowers.
The entire grand ballroom went dead silent.
The classical music playing over the speakers seemed to fade into nothing. Hundreds of millionaires, politicians, and socialites stared in absolute, unadulterated shock. No one had ever dared to lay a finger on Vivienne Cross, the reigning queen of the city’s elite circle.
