Chapter 6 - The Grandmother's Will

Sylvester didn't open the folder. He held it casually in his massive hand, looking down at the woman cowering in the ruined flowers.

He took a slow, heavy step toward her. The crimson-clad socialite whimpered, pressing her back against the base of a marble pillar.

With a swift, dismissive motion, Sylvester threw the heavy leather folder directly onto the wet floor right in front of Vivienne. The folder popped open upon impact, spilling several thick, notarized legal documents onto the marble.

"Take a look at what your grandmother sent you," Sylvester said, his voice dropping into a cold, lethal register that sent a shiver down the spine of every guest in the room.

Vivienne’s eyes darted from his emotionless face down to the papers.

Her face immediately filled with sheer, suffocating fear.

She recognized the heavy wax seal of the Cross Family Estate. Her grandmother, the ruthless matriarch of their family, had passed away three days ago. Vivienne had been celebrating all week, completely convinced she was about to inherit a billion-dollar shipping empire.
