Chapter 9 - The Eviction

"And my place is at the head of the table," Sylvester finished.
He turned slightly, looking at the hotel manager, who was still standing nearby with his hands clasped respectfully behind his back.
"Cancel her credit lines," Sylvester ordered the manager. "Revoke her VIP status. And have the security detail escort her out of my hotel."
"No! Wait!" Vivienne screamed, thrashing wildly as two of Sylvester’s massive, suited men stepped forward.
They grabbed the socialite by the arms, effortlessly lifting her off the wet floor. Her crimson evening gown was ruined, her face was swelling from the slap, and her dignity was completely erased in front of the entire high-society circle she had bullied for years.
"Sylvester! Please! I'll do anything!" Vivienne wailed, her cries echoing off the high ceilings of the ballroom.
The guards didn't hesitate. They dragged the shrieking, kicking woman backward across the marble floor. The wealthy guests quickly parted like the Red Sea, terrified of getting in the way of the mafia boss's men. Vivienne was hauled out through the heavy double doors, her desperate screams fading into the service corridor—the exact corridor she had mockingly told Sylvester to use just five minutes ago.
