Chapter 1 - The Shattered Glass

The grand luxury gala ballroom was a breathtaking masterpiece of wealth, illuminated by massive crystal chandeliers casting a brilliant, warm glow over polished marble floors and elite guests in formal evening wear. But the high-society elegance was violently shattered by a sudden, metallic crash and a sharp gasp.

Abigail stood paralyzed in the middle of the room, her hands hovering helplessly over her stomach.

The young pregnant waitress, her brown hair tied back neatly, wore a crisp white button-down shirt and a brown apron. At her feet, a silver tray lay overturned on the marble floor, surrounded by shattered glass and spilled champagne that soaked the hem of an expensive designer gown.

Standing right over her, her face contorted with vicious, unadulterated fury, was a woman in a sparkly silver cowl-neck evening gown and long light blue gloves.

"You clumsy little brat!" the woman shrieked, glaring down at the terrified pregnant girl.

Before Abigail could even choke out an apology, a handsome man in an all-black suit and black tie—who had been walking past—instantly dropped to his knees on the marble floor to help clean up the broken glass, ignoring his own immaculate clothing.

The woman in the silver gown stared down at Abigail with absolute, freezing contempt, refusing to soften her expression.
