Chapter 10 - The True Queen

"You can't do this to me!" Blair wailed hysterically, dropping to her knees in the spilled champagne. "I am a Kensington! She is a nobody from a department store!"
"She is my fiancée," Leandro replied, his voice carrying an unbreakable, titanium authority.
The entire patio gasped.
I looked up at Leandro, my heart soaring. The terrifying scars on his face were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
"If I ever catch you speaking her name again," Leandro warned Blair, his voice dropping into a lethal whisper, "I won't call the FBI. I will handle you myself."
Leandro turned his back on the weeping, ruined socialite. He gently placed his hand on the small of my back and escorted me back to the armored SUV, completely leaving the toxic, fake high-society world in the dust.
Wesley and his father were permanently erased by the Chicago cartel. Blair’s family lost absolutely everything, forced to work minimum-wage jobs to survive their massive debts.
Six months later, Leandro and I were married in a quiet, beautiful ceremony on a private island. I didn't wear a department store dress. I wore custom silk.
As we danced together under the stars, completely alone, Leandro pulled me close.
"You aren't afraid of the scars anymore," Leandro whispered, kissing my forehead.

"I never was," I smiled, resting my head against his strong chest. "I was only afraid of losing you."
If you were in my shoes, would you have handed Wesley to the police, or was throwing him to the cartel the ultimate, perfect justice?
