Chapter 9 - The Socialite's Ruin

The next morning, Blair Kensington was hosting a lavish, high-society brunch at her family’s sprawling estate, entirely oblivious to the apocalyptic bloodbath that had occurred the night before.

She was standing on her marble patio, holding a mimosa, bragging to her wealthy friends about her impending fake engagement to the city's most powerful man.

Suddenly, the heavy iron gates of the estate violently swung open.

Three armored black SUVs tore up the driveway. The music stopped. The guests froze in sheer panic.

Leandro Vitali stepped out of the lead vehicle. He wasn't wearing a suit. He wore a dark leather jacket, projecting the terrifying, untouchable aura of a mafia king.

Blair’s perfectly contoured face lit up with arrogant delight. "Leandro, darling! What a wonderful surprise!"

She stepped forward, reaching out to hug him.

Leandro didn't stop walking. He completely bypassed Blair, totally ignoring her outstretched arms, and walked directly toward the passenger side of his SUV.

He opened the door and gently offered his hand.

I stepped out of the vehicle, wearing a stunning, custom-tailored emerald green dress Leandro had bought for me that morning.

Blair physically staggered backward, her champagne glass slipping from her hand and shattering on the patio. "What... what is she doing here?!" Blair shrieked, completely losing her elegant facade.

Leandro didn't raise his voice. He looked at Blair with absolute, freezing contempt.
