Chapter 5 - The Forbidden County

Mack stared at the back of the letter.

“Mack, the real deed to the estate, the one proving Vince committed fraud, isn't in the house. I hid it inside the floorboards of the old Iron Mill. Don't let Vince destroy my family.”

Mack closed his eyes. The Iron Mill was an abandoned industrial scrapyard in Blackwood County. Ten years ago, Mack and his crew had a violent run-in with a corrupt sheriff there. They had made a blood oath never to cross the county line again to avoid a massive war.

But looking at the bruised mother and the starving nine-year-old boy, the oath meant absolutely nothing. Walter had walked through fire for them. They would walk into hell for him.

Mack folded the letter and slipped it into his leather vest. He looked at his crew. One by one, the grizzled bikers nodded. They all understood.

“Finish your lunch, Eli,” Mack said, a dark, terrifying smirk crossing his face.

“Why?” Eli asked with a mouth full of fries.

“Because after lunch, we’re going for a ride,” Mack declared, standing up from the booth. His massive frame blocked out the diner lights. “We’re taking you somewhere your grandfather wanted you to see. And then, we’re going to have a little chat with your stepdad.”

Sarah gasped, grabbing Mack’s arm. “No! You can’t! Vince has thugs at the house! He hired local criminals to guard the property because he knows he stole it! They have weapons!”

“Good,” Mack rumbled, pulling out his cell phone. “I was hoping he’d put up a fight.”

Mack dialed a number. “Yeah, it’s Mack. Call the charter. Tell every single rider we have to suit up. We’re heading into Blackwood. We have a debt to collect.”
