Chapter 7 - The Roar of the Engines

Vince froze. The whiskey sloshed in his glass.
His thugs stopped laughing, reaching toward their waistbands as they stared down the long, gravel driveway leading to the estate gates.
The rumble turned into a deafening roar.
Bursting through the morning fog were motorcycle headlights. Not just four. Not just ten.
Over fifty massive, heavy-duty motorcycles roared up the driveway in a perfectly synchronized formation. The ground literally trembled under the weight of the steel and muscle. At the front of the pack, driving a heavy black pickup truck, was Mack.
The bikers swarmed the property, completely surrounding the front yard, the deck, and the exits. They killed their engines in unison. The sudden, eerie silence was far more terrifying than the noise.
Vince dropped his whiskey glass. It shattered on the deck. All the color drained from his arrogant face. His five hired thugs looked around at the fifty grizzled, terrifying bikers and instantly realized they were severely outnumbered and outmatched.
The door of the black truck opened. Mack stepped out, his heavy boots crunching on the gravel.
He didn't look like a diner patron anymore. He looked like an apex predator.
Mack walked to the passenger side, opened the door, and gently lifted little Eli out, setting him on the ground. Sarah stepped out right behind them, holding her breath.
Vince’s shock quickly morphed into desperate, panicked rage.
“Sarah!” Vince screamed, trying to maintain his authority. “What the hell is this?! Who are these freaks?! Get off my property before I call the cops!”
Mack took a slow, deliberate step forward, pulling off his riding gloves.
