Chapter 6 - The Forensic Trap

"You're right, Ryan," Nia said smoothly. "I couldn't touch your car. But the local police department could."

Ryan stopped breathing.

"When I arrived at this hospital three hours ago," Nia explained, stepping perfectly into his personal space, "I didn't just sit here. I called the Chief of Police. I gave him Elise's sworn statement. He secured an emergency search warrant for your vehicle while you were upstairs buying cheap flowers from the gift shop."

Morgan let out a high-pitched, horrified gasp, stumbling backward against the hospital doorframe.

"No," Ryan stammered, all the color violently draining from his handsome face. "You're lying. You're a clerk! You don't have that kind of power!"

Nia looked dead into Ryan's eyes, her gaze entirely devoid of human mercy. She was ready to destroy his entire life.

"My forensic team already has it," Nia whispered, deadly quiet, her words slicing through the sterile air like a razor blade. "They pulled it out of your trunk twenty minutes ago. They already found your fingerprints under the handle, Ryan. And they found Morgan's DNA on the tip where she tried to wipe the blood off."

The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing betrayal paralyzed the entire room.

Morgan screamed, dropping her black purse onto the linoleum floor. "He made me do it! I didn't want to hit her! He said we needed the money!"

👉 Ryan spun around to silence his mistress, but the terrifying sight in the hallway completely broke his mind.
