Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Justice

The chaotic, violent energy was physically dragged out of the hospital room.

The heavy door closed, shutting out the pathetic, humiliated screams of the husband and his mistress as they were paraded through the hospital lobby in handcuffs.

Nia let out a long, shaky breath. The cold, terrifying military investigator slowly melted away, leaving only a deeply relieved, fiercely loving mother. She sat down gently on the edge of the hospital bed and wrapped her arms carefully around her daughter.

"You're safe now, baby," Nia whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of Elise's head. "I've got you. Nobody is ever going to hurt you again."

Elise finally let the tears fall, but they weren't tears of fear. They were tears of pure, unadulterated relief and overwhelming gratitude. The nightmare was entirely over.

Six months later, justice was served with absolute perfection.

Ryan was sentenced to twenty-five years in a maximum-security state penitentiary for attempted murder. Morgan took a plea deal, turning on Ryan entirely, but still received ten years behind bars for her role in the brutal robbery.

Elise made a full recovery. Her arm healed beautifully, and with her mother's unwavering support, she filed for a completely one-sided divorce, securing every single asset Ryan had ever touched.

They moved into a beautiful, highly secured home together. The dark shadows of domestic terror and toxic betrayal were permanently banished from Elise's life, replaced by a kingdom built on absolute loyalty, undeniable courage, and perfect justice.

If you were Nia, would you have warned Ryan about the search warrant, or was letting him walk straight into the police trap the absolute perfect revenge?
