Chapter 6 - The Guest Revolt

The wealthy party guests didn't buy Robert's pathetic lie.

"Call 911!" a woman in the background yelled, dialing her phone frantically. "We need the police right now! He's a murderer!"

Robert realized he was entirely trapped. The high-society mask shattered, leaving a feral, desperate coward in its place. He lunged toward the heavy mahogany front doors, intending to sprint to his sports car and flee the state before the police arrived.

But Michael moved with explosive speed.

Before Robert could even touch the doorknob, Michael grabbed him by the back of his expensive gray suit collar. With a single, powerful heave, Michael threw the abusive surgeon backward.

Robert crashed violently into the decorated dining table, shattering crystal glasses and sending the pristine white tablecloth crashing to the floor.

"You aren't going anywhere," Michael commanded, standing over him like an apex predator.

Robert scrambled backward on the floor, bleeding slightly from a cut on his forehead caused by the broken glass.

"Michael, listen to me!" Robert begged, holding his hands up in surrender. "I wasn't really going to do it! It was just talk! I was stressed from the hospital!"

"You were buying fentanyl to put in my sister's face cream!" Michael roared, the sheer volume of his voice making the Christmas ornaments rattle on the tree. "You were going to let her die in her sleep while her five-year-old daughter was in the next room!"

Robert looked wildly around the room, realizing none of his wealthy friends were stepping forward to help him. They were all recording him on their phones.
