Chapter 7 - The Desperate Escape

"Elisa, tell him to let me go!" Robert pleaded pathetically, turning his bleeding face toward the wife he had just tried to murder. "Please! I'll give you everything! You can have the house! You can have the bank accounts! Just let me walk out the back door!"
Elisa stood up. She wasn't trembling anymore.
The terrified, abused victim completely vanished. A fierce, unbreakable mother fully awakened. She looked at her daughter, holding the stuffed rabbit, and then at the pathetic monster on the floor.
She walked slowly toward Robert, her pinkish coat swishing against the hardwood floor.
"You told me I would leave with nothing," Elisa said coldly, staring down at him with absolute disgust. "You told me I would end up homeless if I ever tried to escape you."
"I was lying!" Robert sobbed, his expensive suit ruined by the spilled wine and broken glass. "I was just trying to keep you! I love you!"
"You don't know how to love," Elisa replied quietly. "You only know how to control. And you have no control left."
Robert gritted his teeth, a flash of violent anger returning. He suddenly lunged forward, trying to grab Elisa's leg to drag her down with him.
Michael didn't hesitate. He stepped forward and delivered a swift, brutal kick directly to Robert's chest, sending the surgeon sprawling onto his back, gasping for air.
"Touch her again, and I'll break your arm before the cops get here," Michael warned lethally.
