Chapter 2 - The Golden Delusion

The cinematic realism of the absolute disrespect paralyzed the few people waiting nearby in the lobby.

To understand the sheer, unhinged arrogance of the Ashford family, one had to look at the lie they had told themselves for the last ten years. Julian Ashford was the CEO of Ashford Tech, a massive, multi-million-dollar software firm. He paraded around the city as a brilliant, self-made billionaire.

When he was caught having a blatant, humiliating affair with Lila, a twenty-eight-year-old aspiring influencer, Julian didn't apologize. He filed for divorce and handed Claire a brutal prenuptial agreement she had signed a decade ago.

Vivian had spent the entire divorce proceedings mocking Claire. She treated Claire like a disposable, gold-digging peasant who had finally been thrown out on the street to make room for a younger, prettier model.

"You should be grateful we let you live in the Ashford Estate as long as we did," Vivian sneered, adjusting her pearl necklace with a cold laugh. "Julian is moving Lila into the master bedroom this afternoon. Send a moving company for your cheap clothes by 5:00 PM, or I am having the staff throw them into the street."

Julian chuckled, perfectly adjusting his silver cufflinks. "Be reasonable, Mother. We'll give her until tomorrow. She's going to need time to find a cheap apartment."

Lila smirked, gently touching her diamond bracelet. "I already ordered new furniture for the living room, Julian. I hope her junk is gone by tonight."

👉 Claire stared at the three toxic monsters, completely unfazed as she waited for a very specific digital signal.
