Chapter 6 - The Bulldozer

"I sold the estate at 9:00 AM this morning," Claire explained, watching the blood violently drain from Vivian's powdered face. "I sold it to Vanguard Commercial Developers. They specialize in high-density luxury apartments."
Vivian let out a horrific, high-pitched gasp, clutching her pearl necklace as if she were actively choking on it. "Vanguard?! They tear everything down!"
"Yes, they do, Vivian," Claire smiled, a cold, terrifying expression. "In fact, their demolition crews are pulling into the driveway of the estate right now. If your designer clothes and your antique furniture aren't out of the house by noon, they are going straight into a dumpster."
"You can't do this!" Julian roared, entirely abandoning his composed, handsome billionaire facade. His charcoal suit suddenly felt like a straightjacket. "I am going to sue you! I will tie you up in court for a decade!"
"You can't sue me with money you don't have, Julian," Claire whispered softly.
The air in the courthouse lobby dropped ten degrees.
Julian froze. He looked at his ex-wife, the woman he had treated like a disposable, boring piece of background furniture for ten years. For the very first time, he saw the terrifying, titanium intelligence blazing in her dark eyes.
