Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Walkout

"Start over with what?!" Lila screamed, swatting Julian's hand away as if he were a diseased rat. "I'm not dating a broke, unemployed loser! Don't ever call me again!"
Without a single ounce of hesitation, the twenty-eight-year-old mistress turned on her heel and sprinted frantically out of the courthouse, abandoning Julian instantly to hunt for a real billionaire.
Vivian Ashford was hyperventilating. The sixty-year-old woman clutched her beige skirt suit, looking at her weeping son on the marble floor. Her entire high-society life, her country club memberships, and her arrogant, untouchable status were completely funded by Julian.
And Julian had just been financially executed.
"Claire, please!" Vivian wailed hysterically, completely abandoning her cruel, venomous persona. She held her hands out, begging the woman she had abused for a decade. "We are family! I'm sorry! I'll make him apologize! You can't leave us with nothing!"
Claire didn't flinch. She didn't feel a single drop of pity.
"Don't ever set foot in my company again," Claire whispered, perfectly echoing Vivian's own cruel words from earlier.
A wide cinematic shot captured the final, flawless moment. Claire didn't wait for a response. She turned her back on the weeping mother and son, gripping her structured leather handbag.
