Chapter 8 - The True Heiress

Elena didn't yell. She walked with terrifying, slow-motion cinematic grace straight to the head of the mahogany table. She didn't look at Chloe. She locked her piercing eyes directly onto Richard’s pale, sweating face.

With a loud, heavy smack, Elena slammed a thick black folder directly on top of Richard’s CEO contract.

"You missed a few signatures, Richard," Elena said, her voice dropping into a cold, lethal cadence that echoed flawlessly through the silent room.

Arthur Sterling stepped forward, placing a heavy, protective hand on his daughter’s shoulder. He looked down at Richard with the absolute disgust of a man looking at a cockroach.

"Sit down, boy," Arthur commanded. His voice wasn't loud, but it carried the absolute weight of a billion-dollar empire. Richard’s knees buckled instinctively, and he collapsed back into his leather chair.

"Let me introduce you to the true owner of this building," Arthur said softly, scanning the terrified faces of the board members. "Elena Sterling. My sole daughter. And the absolute majority shareholder of the parent company that owns every single asset in your pathetic little portfolio."

Richard stopped breathing. The air in the room completely vanished.

Elena opened the black folder. She pulled out two pieces of paper. The first was a legitimate, highly certified DNA test, taken at the most exclusive hospital in the city that morning.

"The baby is yours, Richard," Elena said coldly, dropping the paper in his lap. "But he will never bear your disgusting last name."
