Chapter 3 - The Doctor's Revelation

Claire turned and kept walking down the bright corridor, her low heels clicking sharply against the polished linoleum.

A wide shot captured the devastating aftermath. Vincent stood completely frozen in the middle of the hallway, physically staggering backward as if he had just been shot in the chest. Sophia frantically grabbed his arm, her champagne silk dress swishing as she desperately tried to pull him away from the scene.

"Vincent, let her go!" Sophia hissed viciously, her blonde hair falling over her shoulder. "She's probably faking it just to steal half your company in the divorce!"

But Vincent couldn't hear her. He was hyperventilating, his mind frantically racing back to exactly three hours ago.

Claire had gone to the hospital this morning for a routine blood test. Vincent had secretly followed her, dragging Sophia along, completely ready to finally serve Claire the divorce papers in the lobby so he could marry his pregnant mistress before the baby arrived.

But when he cornered Claire in the waiting room, she wasn't waiting for a blood test. She was walking out of a high-risk fertility specialist's office.

Vincent had aggressively ripped the medical folder out of the doctor's hand, expecting to see another negative test result. Instead, the doctor had looked at the wealthy, arrogant husband with pure, unfiltered disgust.
