Chapter 7 - The Desperate Chase

Vincent completely abandoned the screaming, weeping mistress in the middle of the hospital hallway. He didn't care about the humiliation or the stares of the medical staff. He sprinted full speed toward the exit, his expensive white suit jacket flapping wildly behind him.

He burst through the heavy glass doors of the hospital lobby, running out into the bright, sunny parking lot.

Claire was standing next to her sleek black luxury SUV, unlocking the door.

"Claire!" Vincent screamed, his voice cracking with absolute, agonizing desperation.

He sprinted across the asphalt and threw himself onto the hood of her car, completely blocking her from getting inside. He slid off the hood and dropped to his knees right in front of her, tears of pure, pathetic regret flooding his face.

"Claire, please!" Vincent sobbed violently, grabbing the edge of her green floral dress. "I was wrong! The doctors were wrong! She lied to me! The baby isn't mine! Please, you have to forgive me!"

A medium close-up captured Claire looking down at the broken, weeping monster at her feet. She didn't look angry. She didn't look sad. She looked at him with profound, unfiltered disgust.
