Chapter 1 - The Rain-Soaked Assistant

The grand American luxury mansion was a breathtaking display of opulent wealth. A massive roaring fireplace cast a cinematic, warm amber glow across the crowded living room, reflecting beautifully off the heavy crystal chandeliers. The room was packed with the city's most elite, powerful elites, all completely focused on the arrogant man standing in the center of the room.
Sterling, a handsome man in his late thirties wearing a flawless black tuxedo and bowtie, stood confidently in front of the silent, wealthy crowd.
With one hand, he arrogantly, possessively held the waist of Harper—a stunning twenty-something blonde woman wearing a breathtaking cream silk dress and glittering sapphire jewelry.
With his other hand, Sterling gestured aggressively and dismissively toward a woman standing near the entryway.
It was Eleanor, his wife of ten years.
But Eleanor didn't look like a wealthy hostess. She stood entirely completely still, wearing a plain, unadorned black evening dress. She had just walked three miles through a torrential thunderstorm because Sterling had intentionally canceled her private car. Rainwater dripped heavily from her dark hair, pooling on the polished hardwood floor.
"Please forgive our assistant," Sterling announced smugly, intentionally raising his voice so every single billionaire in the room could hear him. "She got caught in the storm picking up the dry cleaning."
The wealthy crowd let out a low, mocking chuckle.

A medium close-up captured Eleanor. Her face didn't twist in agony. She didn't scream. She remained an icy, unreadable mask, staring directly at the husband who had just publicly humiliated her and introduced his mistress as his partner.
👉 Sterling smirked, entirely oblivious to the terrifying apex predator standing directly behind his mistress.
