Chapter 3 - The Corporate Demand

Owen finally arrived. He wore the exact same dark navy suit and patterned tie from his sister's luxury wedding rehearsal.

But he wasn't alone. Walking right behind him were Natalie’s parents and her adult sister, all heavily dressed in expensive, formal wedding-rehearsal clothing. They hadn't come to mourn. They hadn't brought flowers or tears. They marched into the room with aggressive, frantic energy.

The heavy, toxic silence in the maternity room was absolutely deafening.

Owen didn't rush to the hospital bed to hold his wife. He didn't even look at the tiny, wrapped bundle resting in Natalie's arms. He stood firmly at the foot of the bed, radiating pure, calculated corporate arrogance.

"Natalie," Owen stated clinically, entirely devoid of human mercy. "We need you to agree to something."

A tight close-up captured Natalie. She looked slowly from Owen's cold face to her own parents, who were standing nervously by the door. Her mother wouldn't even make eye contact with her.

"You left me here alone," Natalie whispered, her deep voice carrying a freezing, lethal frequency.

"It was my sister's wedding," Owen scoffed loudly, completely failing to read the room. "You were heavily sedated anyway. There was nothing I could do. But we have a massive problem now. Your father's corporate holding company is officially filing for bankruptcy tomorrow morning."

Natalie physically stopped breathing.

To understand the absolute, unhinged cruelty of this family, one had to look at the massive corporate merger they had been planning for a year. Owen had married Natalie specifically to secure a multi-million-dollar partnership with her father's firm.

👉 Owen reached into his tailored suit jacket, actively preparing to use a dead child as a financial loophole.
