Chapter 4 - The Toxic Family

"The only asset protecting my family's wealth," Owen explained flawlessly, ensuring the entire room heard every word, "is the private trust fund legally tied to our marriage. But because the baby didn't survive, the trust defaults completely back to you."
Owen pulled a thick, heavily stamped legal document from his navy suit jacket.
"Sign the corporate release papers, Natalie," Owen commanded smoothly, holding out a designer pen. "Transfer the trust fund directly to my name so I can save your father's firm from federal collapse."
The cinematic realism of the terrifying, suffocating tension completely electrified the room.
"You want me to sign away my trust fund," Natalie whispered coldly, her eyes welling with profound disbelief, "while I am holding our dead daughter?"
"Don't be so dramatic, Natalie," her own mother sneered aggressively from the doorway, completely abandoning any maternal instinct. "The child is gone. The corporate firm is the only thing that matters right now. If Owen doesn't inject the capital by midnight, your father will go to federal prison!"
Natalie’s jaw literally unhinged. She looked at her sister, completely expecting her to defend her. But her adult sister just crossed her arms, violently glaring at her.
