Chapter 1 - The Glass of Water

The dimly lit kitchen was terrifyingly quiet. Faint, cool early morning light spilled through the window, casting long, menacing shadows across the heavy wooden cabinets.

Morgan, a thirty-something woman with messy brunette hair, stood trembling in her light blue pajamas. She was completely exhausted, her hands shaking violently as she frantically opened the lowest cabinet door.

She reached deep behind a heavy blue stock pot and pulled out a delicate, expensive gold necklace.

It was an anniversary gift from her husband, Julian. He had given it to her a month ago, firmly demanding that she wear it tightly around her neck every single day, never taking it off, not even to shower. But lately, Morgan had been feeling incredibly sick. Dizzy, weak, her skin constantly breaking out in strange, painful rashes right where the heavy gold pendant rested against her collarbone.

"Let's see if the old woman was right," Morgan whispered, her voice cracking with pure, suffocating dread.

She placed a clear glass of tap water on the kitchen counter. With trembling fingers, she completely submerged the beautiful gold necklace into the liquid.

A tight close-up captured the terrifying, undeniable reaction.

Within seconds, a strange, toxic cloudy substance rapidly began dissolving from the hidden crevices of the gold pendant, violently bleeding into the clear water and turning it a sickly, chemical gray.

Morgan physically staggered backward, her face turning completely pale with absolute, paralyzing terror.

"Oh my god," Morgan gasped, her jaw unhinging as the horrific, apocalyptic reality set in.

👉 Suddenly, a tall, menacing shadow completely blocked the early morning light from the kitchen doorway.
