Chapter 3 - The Fatal Insurance

Julian forcefully shoved Morgan backward. She crashed hard against the wooden cabinets, her light blue pajamas wrinkling as she gasped for breath.

To understand the absolute, unhinged cruelty of Julian’s master plan, one had to look at his massive, hidden debts. Julian was a highly successful corporate investment broker, but he had secretly gambled away millions of dollars of his clients' money. He was exactly three weeks away from a federal audit that would send him to prison for the rest of his life.

He desperately needed cash, and he needed it fast.

Six months ago, Julian secretly took out a massive, highly suspicious ten-million-dollar life insurance policy on his perfectly healthy wife.

But he couldn't just shoot her or stage a break-in; the police would investigate him immediately. He needed her death to look completely natural. He needed it to look like a tragic, sudden medical failure.

Julian pulled a small, heavy silver capsule from his pocket.

"The toxic metal embedded in the necklace was just meant to weaken your immune system, Morgan," Julian explained flawlessly, walking slowly toward her. "It was making you dizzy. It was making you look incredibly sick to the doctors. It was setting the perfect medical stage."

Morgan physically stopped breathing. The air in the dim kitchen was completely sucked out.

"But now that you've figured it out," Julian whispered, his eyes flashing with lethal danger, "I can't wait for the metal to finish the job. We have to skip directly to the heart attack."

👉 Morgan desperately scrambled across the floor, entirely unaware that someone else had already been listening.
