The sun had fully set over the Moretti estate. The sprawling grounds were pitch black, silent except for the crunch of heavy boots on the gravel.

Lorenzo, flanked by Marco and four heavily armed tactical guards, approached the luxurious west wing guest house. There were no lights on inside. Dante was waiting for the hit squad to arrive.

Lorenzo didn't knock. He simply raised his boot and violently kicked the heavy oak door right off its hinges.

The door crashed inward. Lorenzo stepped into the dark living room, his weapon raised.

"Dante!" Lorenzo roared, his voice shaking the glass windows.

A gunshot rang out from the shadows of the hallway. The bullet shattered a vase just inches from Lorenzo’s head. Marco immediately returned fire, laying down suppressing shots that shredded the drywall.

"You always were too loud, little brother!" Dante’s voice sneered from behind a heavy marble pillar.

"You sent the text!" Lorenzo shouted, slowly advancing through the dark room. "You used Valentina to set me up!"

Dante laughed—a cruel, arrogant sound. "Valentina is an idiot who likes expensive shoes! All I had to do was promise her half the estate, and she gladly handed over your schedule. You’ve gone soft, Lorenzo! Caring about maids and children! The family needs a real boss!"

"The family hates rats," Lorenzo replied coldly.

Dante suddenly lunged from behind the pillar, firing wildly in the dark. But he was out of practice. Marco’s return fire caught Dante in the shoulder, spinning the older brother around and sending his gun clattering across the hardwood floor.

Dante collapsed against the wall, clutching his bleeding shoulder, groaning in agony as the tactical lights of the security team completely blinded him.

Lorenzo walked slowly up to his bleeding brother. He looked down at the man who shared his blood, feeling absolutely nothing but disgust.
