Chapter 9 - The Forensic Reality

The flashing red and blue lights of multiple police cruisers illuminated the grand windows of the estate.

Four heavily armed officers stormed into the foyer, taking immediate custody of Vanessa. Right behind them was a specialized emergency toxicology team, dispatched by Marcus's private concierge doctor the absolute second the word "poison" was mentioned.

While the police handcuffed the screaming, humiliated fiancée, the paramedics carefully took the dark glass vial from Dorothy's hand.

They ran a rapid chemical test right there on the marble floor.

The lead paramedic looked up, his face grim and entirely serious. "It's a highly concentrated liquid thallium compound, Mr. Bennett," the medic confirmed, sealing the nightmare. "It's a heavy metal poison. It's incredibly difficult to detect, and it mimics severe neurological failure. If you had ingested this for even one more week, your heart would have completely failed."

Vanessa’s desperate cries for mercy abruptly stopped. She stared in absolute, paralyzing horror as the undeniable forensic evidence of her attempted murder was declared loudly in front of the police.

"Vanessa Sterling," the lead officer barked, violently yanking her arms behind her back. "You are under arrest for attempted murder in the first degree, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit fraud."

The heavy steel handcuffs snapped loudly over the delicate silk of her designer gown. She was forcefully dragged out the front doors, her high-society reputation permanently destroyed as she was shoved into the back of a squad car in complete disgrace.

👉 The toxic threat was banished forever, leaving Marcus to deliver the ultimate justice to the woman who saved him.
