Chapter 7 - The True Landlord

Dad’s hands trembled violently as he ripped the envelope open.
He unfolded the heavy legal document, his eyes scanning the thick black text. The cinematic realism of his profound, suffocating panic was breathtaking. All the color instantly drained from his face.
“This... this is a fake,” Dad stammered, his voice cracking with pure, humiliating terror. “He forged this.”
A black SUV pulled up to the curb.
I stepped out, wearing a tailored charcoal suit, projecting the absolute, terrifying authority of a man who controlled everything. I slowly walked up the driveway, holding a sleek leather folder.
“It’s not fake, Dad,” I said calmly, stopping at the bottom of the porch steps.
“You can’t evict me from my own house, Ethan!” Dad shrieked, his face turning an ugly shade of purple. “I own this property! My name is on the deed!”
“Your name hasn't been on that deed in three years,” I corrected him, my voice completely devoid of any human mercy.
Diane, Mason, Claire, and Lily all froze, staring at me in absolute, breathless shock.
“When your business went bankrupt three years ago,” I explained smoothly, “the bank initiated immediate foreclosure proceedings on this house. You hid the notices from the family. You were thirty days away from being thrown into the street.”
Dad physically staggered backward, leaning against the brick wall.

“So I bought it,” I continued, my voice echoing in the quiet neighborhood. “I purchased the property directly from the bank under an anonymous LLC. I paid off your toxic debts to keep a roof over your heads. You haven't been the owner of this house for three years, Dad. You are my tenants. And you just missed rent.”
👉 The entitled family realized they were completely homeless, but the reason Dad went bankrupt was the ultimate betrayal.
