Chapter 9 - The Itemized Ruin

I opened my sleek leather folder and pulled out a thick stack of papers.
I dropped them directly onto the porch at their feet.
“Those are itemized bills,” I commanded with unbreakable, titanium authority. “Every single car payment, every server hosting fee, every tuition deposit, and exactly three years of unpaid back-rent for living in my property. The total comes to one hundred and forty-two thousand dollars.”
Mason picked up the papers, his hands shaking violently. “Ethan, we don't have this kind of money! We have absolutely nothing!”
“Then I highly suggest you pack your bags,” I smiled coldly. “Oh wait, I already did.”
I gestured to the side of the house. Sitting perfectly stacked on the wet grass near the garbage cans were cheap cardboard boxes containing all of their personal belongings. Nothing expensive. No furniture. Just their clothes.
“Ethan, please!” Diane wailed hysterically, dropping to her knees in her dirty travel clothes, completely abandoning her arrogant persona. “We’re your family! You can't just throw us into the street! Where will we go?!”
“Italy,” I suggested quietly. “I hear it's beautiful this time of year.”
I stepped past them, unlocked my front door with my key, and walked inside my house.
“Ethan! Open this door!” Dad screamed, frantically pounding his fists against the heavy wood as I engaged the deadbolt. “You can't do this to me! I'm your father!”

“And I was your son,” I whispered to the closed door.
👉 The arrogant family was left entirely ruined on the curb, and my revenge was finally perfectly complete.
