Chapter 1 - The Discarded Father

The grand American hotel ballroom was a blinding masterpiece of high-society luxury. Warm, golden lighting spilled from massive crystal chandeliers, illuminating fifty tables adorned with extravagant, cascading white floral centerpieces.
But at the main family table, the festive atmosphere was suffocating. The tension was so thick it could be cut with a knife.
Landon, a handsome groom in his early thirties wearing a crisp navy tuxedo and a black bowtie, sat rigidly in his chair. Next to him was his beautiful bride, Camille, wearing a stunning white lace dress and a sparkling tiara.
Directly across from them stood Margot, Camille’s wealthy, arrogant fifty-year-old mother. She wore an expensive, heavily beaded red gown, her blonde hair piled into a flawless updo. Her face was twisted into a mask of absolute, unadulterated disgust.
She was aggressively pointing her manicured finger at Frank, Landon’s sixty-year-old father.
Frank, wearing a simple, slightly faded black suit and sporting thinning gray hair, sat quietly, his hands trembling in his lap. He didn't belong in this world of billionaires, and Margot was making sure he knew it.
"Look at him," Margot sneered loudly, completely ignoring the shocked whispers of the nearby guests. "He shouldn't even be at the main table. He's ruining the aesthetic of my daughter's wedding video. He's gutter trash."
Landon’s chest stopped moving. He waited for his new wife, the woman who had promised to love and respect his family, to defend his father.
Instead, Camille looked at Frank, covered her mouth with her manicured hand, and laughed softly.
Landon’s blood turned to absolute ice. He stared at his beautiful bride, and the warm, loving light in his eyes completely vanished, replaced by a cold, terrifying cinematic realization.
