Chapter 3 - The True Owner

"Destroy my company?" Landon repeated, a cold, cinematic smirk touching his lips.

Camille’s father, Richard, an arrogant billionaire real estate developer, aggressively stood up from the other end of the table. "You heard my wife, boy! You embarrass my daughter tonight, and I will personally see to it that your firm never wins a single contract in this city again!"

Landon looked at Richard. He didn't flinch.

"That's going to be very difficult for you to do, Richard," Landon replied smoothly, his voice echoing clearly over the silent ballroom.

"Oh, really?" Richard laughed bitterly, adjusting his expensive tie. "And why is that?"

"Because your entire real estate empire is currently bidding on the massive downtown waterfront revitalization project," Landon stated calmly. "It's a two-billion-dollar contract. If you don't win it, your board of directors is going to oust you for insolvency."

Richard’s smug smile faltered. He nervously glanced at Margot. It was a closely guarded corporate secret that his company was bleeding cash and desperately needed that specific contract to survive.

"How do you know about the waterfront project?" Richard demanded, his voice dropping an octave.

"Because I'm not just a foreman at a pathetic little construction company," Landon revealed, his dark eyes locking onto the arrogant billionaire. "I am the CEO of Vanguard Holdings. The firm that owns the waterfront land. The firm that decides who gets the contract."

The entire ballroom stopped breathing.
