Chapter 10 - Helena Finally Admitted She Wanted Leo to Stop “Owning” Enzo
The clearest explanation came through a later recorded legal interview.
Helena was asked:
“What specifically bothered you about Enzo’s relationship with Leo?”
She answered:
“The child controlled every room.”
“How?”
“If he cried, Enzo stopped talking to adults.”
“He was three.”
“If Leo wanted him, everything changed.”
“He was three.”
“If we had dinner plans and Leo wouldn’t settle, Enzo canceled.”
Again:
“He was three.”
Helena became frustrated.
“That is exactly the problem. Everybody uses his age to excuse everything.”
Then she finally said the sentence underneath the entire system.
“I needed him to understand he doesn’t own his father.”
There it was.
She had treated attachment like possession.
A toddler wanting his father became competition.
And once Helena decided she was competing with Leo, cruelty could be reframed as boundary-setting.
She was not trying to help Enzo raise his son.
