Chapter 12 - Enzo Apologized to Claire Before Asking Her to Stay

Claire expected to lose her job.
Instead Enzo asked to meet privately.
He stood.
She remained near the door.
“I failed you too.”
Claire looked surprised.
“You warned me.”
“Yes.”
“I forwarded your warning to Helena.”
“Yes.”
“I made her your supervisor when she was the person you were afraid of.”
Claire looked down.
Enzo continued.
“I put you in a position where protecting Leo could cost your job.”
That was accurate.
He offered her paid leave.
Full compensation.
Legal support if she wanted to provide evidence.
Then he said:
“If you never want to work here again, I understand.”
Claire eventually returned.
But on different terms.
She was not expected to enforce a partner’s private rules against Leo.
Any concern involving the child could go directly to Enzo, the pediatrician, or a designated family adviser.
No single adult would control every channel again.
The lesson was bigger than Helena.
