Chapter 14 - The Black Car Stayed Dirty for Two Months

Enzo could have had the sedan professionally detailed the next morning.
He didn’t.
For two months, it remained parked beneath a cover in the far side of the garage.
Leo avoided looking at it.
Then one Saturday, he wandered inside while Enzo was organizing tools.
The cover had slipped enough to reveal part of the hood.
Leo stopped.
Enzo noticed.
“Want me to cover it?”
Leo shook his head.
Long silence.
Then:
“Is it still dirty?”
“A little.”
“Are you mad?”
“At you?”
Leo nodded.
“No.”
“But I didn’t clean it.”
“I know.”
Another pause.
Then Leo did something Enzo did not expect.
He touched the hood.
Just one finger.
Nothing happened.
No command.
No food disappearing.
No Helena.
He looked toward his father.
Enzo smiled.
Leo walked away.

That was enough for that day.
