Chapter 13 - GORDON’S TRIAL

Gordon fought.

Of course.

He attacked everyone.

Fiona greedy.

Hart corrupt.

Maya disloyal.

Me vindictive.

Julian weak.

The defense strategy:

Everyone is compromised.

Therefore no one is credible.

Prosecutors answered with records.

Money.

Emails.

Audio.

Clinic logs.

Trust drafts.

Bribery offers.

Documents do not need moral perfection.

They exist.

Fiona testified.

Her lawyer negotiated limited protections.

She admitted her own wrongdoing.

That made her stronger.

Gordon’s attorney asked:

“You hate your father?”

“Yes.”

“You want to save yourself?”

“Yes.”

“You lied to Julian?”

“Yes.”

“You lied to Elena?”

“Yes.”

“Why believe you now?”

Fiona said:

“You shouldn’t believe me because I’m good. Believe the files because they don’t care what I am.”

That line ended the cross-examination’s momentum.

Then Julian testified.

Then me.

Gordon’s lawyer asked why I came to the wedding.

“To tell Julian he might have a daughter.”

“Why publicly?”

“I tried privately for months.”

Certified letter.

Call logs.

Blocked email.

Records.

The spectacle was not my first choice.

It was what remained after private doors closed.

Then prosecutors introduced Gordon’s message:

Weak people are easiest to replace.

The jury heard.

May you like

So did I.

I was done being measured by his vocabulary.
