Chapter 18 - THE TRUST

Lily’s beneficial interest in the Vance trust eventually became formal.
Julian wanted me involved in management.
I declined.
Independent trustee.
Professional oversight.
No parent unilateral control.
After everything, I wanted structure stronger than personalities.
Julian agreed.
That surprised me.
Then he said:
“I used to think family control meant safety.”
“What do you think now?”
“Depends on the family.”
Fair.
We established education funding.
Healthcare protections.
Future voting rights only after adulthood and training.
No one would use Lily’s existence as a corporate weapon.
That mattered more than inheritance.
Then Julian sold part of his personal stake to diversify.
Less empire.
