Chapter 17 - FIONA’S APOLOGY

Fiona wrote me two years later.
Short letter.
Elena,
I wanted to beat you at a game you never agreed to play.
I am sorry.
I hated the sentence.
Because it was accurate.
She continued:
My father taught me that being chosen meant someone else had to lose.
I believed him.
I hurt you.
I hid Lily.
I humiliated you.
Nothing he did to me erases what I did to you.
That was the first real apology.
No excuse disguised as context.
I did not reply.
Then months later, I sent one sentence.
I hope you raise your son differently.
She responded:
I will.
That was all.
No friendship.
No reconciliation scene.
May you like
Good.
Boundaries are allowed to remain boundaries after growth.
