Chapter 15 - THE VERDICT

Victoria was convicted on multiple fraud, forgery, conspiracy, and financial exploitation counts.
Not every count.
Enough.
Martin’s plea reduced his sentence but did not erase prison.
Ryan faced separate charges.
His cooperation mattered.
His assault mattered too.
The judge refused to treat one as cancellation for the other.
That felt right.
At Ryan’s sentencing, I spoke.
“I do not want this court to punish him for being weak around his mother. I want accountability for what he chose as an adult.”
Then:
“He knew my money was being used. He stayed silent. He had an affair. He helped build a story that I was unstable. And when I refused to kneel, he put his hands on me.”
Ryan cried.
I continued.
“I hope he changes. I do not need to witness it.”
That was my boundary.
He received incarceration, restitution, and supervision.
Less than Victoria.
More than he wanted.
Law rarely feels emotionally exact.
Still, it mattered.
The divorce finalized soon after.
I returned to Mariana Vega.

Not because Cole was dirty.
Because Vega was mine.
