Chapter 11 - Lenore’s Legal Problem Was Bigger Than the Chain

The porch incident was immediately serious because it involved restraining and terrorizing a child.
The fraudulent DNA tests added another dimension.
The older case required careful review because of how much time had passed.
The newer one was easier to document.
Lenore had intentionally labeled Stephen’s genetic material as Callum’s.
She used the false result to persuade Callum that his daughter was not biologically his.
Then used that lie while mistreating Maisie.
Investigators also recovered messages between Lenore and Celia, a family friend.
Three days before the party, Lenore wrote:
Once Callum accepts that girl isn’t his, Brenna loses her hold over him.
The friend replied:
What if Brenna gets another test?
Lenore answered:
She won’t if Callum stops cooperating.
That message explained why she panicked when I produced the envelope.
She had expected Callum to refuse legitimate testing indefinitely.
She did not know I had already convinced him to attend a supervised collection.

The sealed envelope meant her control over the evidence had ended.
