Chapter 9 - Rachel Still Had the Old Report
Callum found Rachel through an attorney.
He did not call her directly.
That mattered.
Fourteen years had passed.
He had no right to explode into her life because he finally discovered something she had claimed from the beginning.
Rachel agreed to communicate through counsel first.
She still had the original report.
The specimen number matched.
Same false profile.
Same manipulation.
She also had something Callum had never seen.
An email she sent Lenore fourteen years earlier.
Please tell Callum I will pay for a second test myself. I know what happened.
Lenore replied:
Leave my son alone. Science has already answered you.
Callum read those words and broke down.
Rachel had tried.
Lenore had blocked her.
But again, the hardest truth was not simply what Lenore did.
Callum had never contacted Rachel independently.
Never arranged his own test.
Never asked to see the child again.
He let his mother’s certainty replace his responsibility.
Now there was a fourteen-year-old boy named Owen Morgan living three states away who might be his biological son.
