Chapter 11 - The Reception Continued—On Professional Terms

I did not cancel:

the wedding reception.

That surprised Brielle.

I set conditions.

No further direct instructions from:

her

to staff.

All requests through:

Martin.

No entering the kitchen.

No physical contact with:

any employee.

Any further aggression meant service terminated under the safety provision in:

the contract.

Ethan wanted to leave.

Brielle didn’t.

One hundred eighty people were waiting.

Photos.

First dance.

Speeches.

The life she had planned to display.

She agreed.

The bar reopened.

Kitchen reset.

Replacement plates went:

out.

Dinner began:

thirty-one minutes late.

No one died.

Guests complimented:

the food.

Most never knew the exact reason.

Brielle returned to the ballroom.

I changed into:

a dark green dress

I had left upstairs.

Not white.

Not bridal.

Not uniform.

I did not sit at the family table.

I worked from:

the operations office.

That was where I wanted:

to be.

Later Martin brought me:

a plate.

“Eat.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“Ownership does not override blood glucose.”

I ate.

May you like

Good management.
