Chapter 3 - Brielle Knew I Was Successful—She Just Didn’t Respect How

My sister was not ignorant.

That distinction matters.

She knew I owned:

a company.

She knew I had employees.

She knew I bought a townhouse in:

Brooklyn.

She knew Morrow handled large events.

What she never understood was:

scale.

Partly because she did not ask.

Partly because I did not explain.

And partly because no matter how much the company grew, Brielle still pictured me as the twenty-two-year-old coming home smelling like:

coffee,

wine,

steam-table food.

She once visited my office.

Saw:

conference rooms,

operations staff,

design samples,

screens showing three simultaneous event schedules.

She said:

“Cute place.”

Cute.

I laughed.

Why argue?

Then Martin entered and asked whether we wanted to move a $1.8 million annual contract into the next-quarter review.

Brielle looked surprised.

Five minutes later she was asking about:

my dating life.

Information entered.

Status hierarchy survived.

That was how our relationship worked.
