Chapter 8 - Stopping Service Was Not Revenge

After Brielle shoved me, Martin asked:
“Would you like security?”
“No.”
“Medical?”
“No.”
“Then operational decision?”
“Yes.”
I paused service because we had:
broken dishes,
spilled food,
an aggressive client
and:
a safety issue.
Not because I wanted 180 guests starving while I made a:
power move.
The ballroom remained calm.
Guests had cocktails.
Nobody outside our small confrontation even fully understood what happened.
Martin moved Brielle and Ethan into:
a private reception room.
I followed.
Brielle was furious.
“You cannot stop my wedding.”
“I stopped food service.”
“Same thing.”
“No.”
“Your guests are still in the ballroom.”
“The bar is paused until we confirm nobody is going to attack staff or equipment.”
“I attacked you.”
I stared.
“Do you hear yourself?”
“You’re my sister.”
“Exactly.”
She looked confused.
As if family made:
violence
less serious.
Ethan stepped in.
“We paid for this.”
“You paid for contracted service.”
“And you received a major family discount.”
“Then refund us.”
I said:
“We’ll reconcile the contract after the event.”
He laughed.
“You’re really going to invoice your sister after this?”
I looked toward:
Brielle.
She said nothing.
There.
That was the arrangement they believed existed.
I provided.
They received.
May you like
Gratitude optional.
