Chapter 7 - Caroline’s Car Was Found Where Vivian Said It Would Be
Vivian eventually spoke through an attorney.
Her first statement was controlled.
“I did not abduct Caroline.”
Second:
“I did not harm Caroline.”
Third:
“The child misunderstood what she saw.”
Then Vivian provided a location.
A parking structure outside Providence.
Caroline’s car was there.
Locked.
Undamaged.
Her suitcase inside.
Her phone under the passenger seat.
That discovery almost helped Vivian.
Almost.
Because it supported the idea that Caroline drove away.
Then investigators checked traffic cameras.
Caroline’s car entered the garage at 2:11 a.m.
Driver:
A woman wearing a baseball cap.
Not enough facial detail.
But the driver’s height and build looked wrong.
Too tall.
A second camera showed the person leaving on foot.
Long stride.
A silver bracelet.
Vivian owned one exactly like it.
Still circumstantial.
Then the garage access log recorded the ticket payment.
Credit card.
Not Caroline’s.
A prepaid card purchased near Vivian’s home.
