Marcus initially claimed everything was Bianca’s idea.
The affair?
Bianca pursued him.
The invoices?
Bianca asked him to create them.
The treatment of Lucy?
He was “uncomfortable” but afraid to interfere.
Then investigators recovered deleted messages.
Marcus:
Kid still talking?
Bianca:
Less.
Marcus:
Good. Keep making consequences annoying enough that she stops.
Another:
Once we move, none of this matters.
And one that made me set the phone down:
Vittorio believes adults over kids. Use that.
Marcus understood my weakness too.
They had discussed it.
Used it.
My daughter’s credibility had become a tool in their private conversations.
That knowledge changed how I viewed my role.
I had not caused their cruelty.
But I had created conditions where it lasted longer.
That distinction mattered.
Responsibility does not require taking blame for someone else’s actions.
