Chapter 3 - The Snake Tattoo

Dante slowly stood up to his full height. The chilling cinematic realization hit him instantly.
The "man with the snake on his hand" wasn't a random loan shark. It was Victor, one of Dante’s own mid-level enforcers. Victor was supposed to collect debts from rival cartels and illegal gambling rings. He was absolutely forbidden from extorting innocent civilians, especially the private staff working inside Dante’s own home.
"Where is your mother, Sophie?" Dante asked, his voice stripping away the cold intimidation, replaced by a low, lethal authority.
"In the kitchen," Sophie sniffled, wiping her nose with her oversized beige apron. "She's crying again."
Dante didn't call for his guards. He didn't say another word. He gently took the heavy mop from Sophie’s tiny hands, leaning it against the opulent gold wall. He extended his large, tattooed hand to the little girl.
Sophie hesitated for a second, then bravely placed her small hand into his.
Dante walked her through the massive, quiet hallways of the estate, heading straight for the industrial catering kitchen.
When he pushed the swinging double doors open, the kitchen staff instantly froze in terror. But Dante wasn't looking at the chefs. His dark eyes locked onto a young woman kneeling in the corner, frantically scrubbing a stain on the tile floor.
It was Elena, a quiet, hardworking single mother who had been cleaning Dante’s estate for two years.
